Protein blend creation for the sports nutrition market using a cricket protein concentrate

The North American sports nutrition market has been growing at a significant rate for the past 5 years. Consumers have begun demanding sustainable alternative sources of protein that don’t compromise nutrition. The challenger possesses a patent pending method to yield a soluble cricket protein concentrate powder and needs to create a protein blend where:
1. Its cricket protein concentrate is the 1st or 2nd ingredient.
2. Tastes great.
3. Variations: soy blend, pea protein/non soy veggie blend, whey blend.
4. Costs are maintained to be competitive against vegan protein powders on market.

Lets start with some basics, what is the likely cost of the insect protein. What will be the protein content, what other constituents are present. Is there an amino acid profile available

I see the product is to be competitive against other vegan products on the market. My understanding from the Vegan Society in the UK that insects are regarded as meat and therefore cannot be part of a vegan diet, in view of this cannot understand why it will priced against vegan products

    An explanation would be good.

Thanks for the comments and questions David. You are right this is not a vegan product, the client is positioning it as an Ento-Vegan product and wants to remain price competitive.
We will share your comments/questions with the client for further information and reply to you via email.
